Hardwood Floor Installation in New Jersey
Unfinished or prefinished, solid or engineered, red oak or white oak in any size. We install it board by board over a solid base, racked for a natural spread of color.
Unfinished vs. prefinished hardwood
We install both. Here's how they compare, so you can decide what fits your home.
| Unfinished | Prefinished | |
|---|---|---|
| How it's finished | Sanded, stained and coated on site after install | Stained and coated at the factory |
| Look | Smooth, seamless surface; any custom stain color | Small beveled edges between boards; set colors |
| Matching old floors | Best choice; blends into existing hardwood | Harder to match existing floors |
| Time in the home | Longer, with sanding and dry time | Faster; walk on it right after install |
Solid and engineered hardwood
Solid hardwood is one piece of wood through its thickness and can be refinished many times. Engineered hardwood has a real wood top layer over a stable plywood core, which handles humidity changes better and suits basements and concrete slabs.
Red oak and white oak, all sizes
Oak is the backbone of New Jersey hardwood. Red oak has warm, pinkish tones and bold grain; white oak is cooler and tighter-grained. We install both in all widths, from classic strip flooring to wide plank.

Done right from the subfloor up
- Subfloor checked and fixed first: squeaks, soft spots and uneven areas
- New plywood where it's needed
- Boards nailed down and racked so colors and lengths spread naturally
- Stair treads, landings and nosings
- New wood woven into existing floors where rooms meet
Questions
Hardwood Floor Installation questions
Should I choose unfinished or prefinished hardwood?
Unfinished is best for custom colors and for blending into existing floors. Prefinished goes in faster with no on-site finishing. We walk you through both at the estimate.
Do you install white oak as well as red oak?
Yes. We install red and white oak in all sizes, solid or engineered.
Can hardwood go in a basement?
Solid hardwood generally isn't recommended below grade. Engineered hardwood or vinyl plank are usually better choices there; we'll recommend one after seeing the space.
Do you install hardwood on stairs?
Yes. We install stair treads and landings to match your floors.
